American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP)

As Chief Executive Officer of the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP), John A. LoFrumento sets and directs the strategic growth for the world's largest performing rights organization. Appointed to the position in 1997, LoFrumento has dramatically increased distributions to members to a record $479.1 million in 2000, lowered the Society's operating ratio to 15.6%, and has proactively positioned ASCAP on the cutting edge of new media and technologies with such advances as EZ-Eagle. Further, LoFrumento recently took the unprecedented step of restructuring ASCAP into four distinct business units which will further equip the organization to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

LoFrumento is a member of both the Administrative Council and Executive Bureau of CISAC (Confederation International des Societies D'Auteurs et Compositeurs). He has been a member of the CISAC Canada/USA Committee since its inception in 1996, and currently serves as its President. He is also the co-founder and serves on the Board of the innovative IMJV (International Music Joint Venture), a service center shared by ASCAP, Buma-Stemra, the MCPS-PRS Alliance and SOCAN, created to handle music rights processing in the digital age. He is a member of the Board of the Songwriters' Hall of Fame and the Chairman of its Finance Committee.

A graduate of Hunter College and a New York State Certified Accountant, LoFrumento served as Vice President and Controller of the Travelers Cheque Division of the American Express Company prior to joining ASCAP in 1981 as Controller. He currently resides in Scarsdale, New York with his wife, Barbara.
