He directed the company’s industry relations and public policy agenda, testifying before Congress on copyright and First Amendment issues. He oversaw all aspects of the company’s media relations, and directed worldwide promotion and publicity campaigns for RCA international artists including David Bowie, Hall and Oates, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross and Latin phenomenon Menudo, working closely with future superstars Ricky Martin and Robi Rosa.
Prior to that, Ahrold was Director, Corporate Affairs for Home Box Office (HBO) from 1978 to 1983, overseeing national program publicity and corporate public affairs activities. He served in marketing, programming and television production positions for HBO from 1972 to 1978. He produced the cable industry’s first music video series, “Celebration,” three years before MTV was launched. Before joining HBO, he served for seven years on the staff of Time magazine in its Washington, D.C. and New York news bureaus.
