Shep Fields was a leader of dance bands during the 1930’s and 40’s. His orchestra was known for its “rippling rhythm” sound introduced by blowing through a straw into a glass of water.
The orchestra was responsible for nearly 40 hits during from 1936 through 1943 including the #1 hits “Did I Remember?” (1936), “In the Chapel in the Moonlight” (1936), “The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down” (1937), “That Old Feeling” (1937), “Thanks for the Memory” (1937), “Cathedral in the Pines” (1938) and “South fo the Border (Down Mexico Way)” (1939).
