Starting in the early 1920’s, Vincent Lopez led his band featuring himself at the piano and some of the most talented vocalist of the era, most notably Betty Hutton. For nearly two decades Lopez and his orchestra toured the United States and performed on the most popular radio shows.
Along with his 1922 top five hit ‘Nola’ (which became Lopez’s theme song and most famous of his piano recordings) were the top ten recordings of “Teasin’” (1922), “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” (1922), “Sun Kist Rose” (1924), “Covered Wagon Days” (1924), “I Want to Be Happy” (#2, 1924), “O Katharina!” (1924), “Show Me the Way to Go Home’ (1926), ‘Always’ (#1, 1926), ‘Hello, Bluebird” (1927), “My Angel (Angela Mia)” (#2, 1928) and “There’s Honey on the Moon Tonight” (1938).
Vincent Lopez remained active through the 1960’s and died on September 20, 1975 at the age of 80.
